Les Carmes Haut-Brion, with 5 hectares of vineyards and 5 hectares of gardens, is the only château of the region with an address in the heart of Bordeaux city : 20 rue des Carmes. Endowed with an historic domain which origins go back to the 16th century, this unique and secular place is the cradle of a terroir enabling the creation of a great wine of Pessac-Leognan. This urban vineyard, entirely closed by walls, has an atypical planting proportion of 40% of Cabernet Franc, 18% of Cabernet Sauvignon and completed by Merlot that embodies the peculiarity of the estate. The wine of Les Carmes Haut-Brion expresses a perfect balance between the richness and sensuality of the Merlot, the nobility and sharpness of the Cabernet Franc and the power and length of the Cabernet Sauvignon.
The estate has a brand new and exceptional cellar, designed by Philippe Starck and built by the architect Luc Arsene-Henry. Ambitious and original, these 2000 square-meters facilities which uses gravitary system and distributes on four levels technical and events activities, symbolize the revival of the estate, initiated in 2010 when Patrice Pichet bought it with a long-term development project.
